Welcome to
.Com..
is a revolutionary new
internet resource providing a sophisticated Sybase®, MS SQL Server®,
IBM DB2® and Oracle® relational database browser and query optimiser
free for use on the internet from this site if you have Java installed on your machine.
With
you can browse a database as you would a web site
viewing table, view and procedure (Sybase and SQL Server only) definitions
colorised by a comprehensive SQL parser. In addition you can send SQL
commands to the server the results of which can be shown in a variety
of formats or exported direct to a spreadsheet. A history of all commands
sent to the server is also kept.
A key feature for Sybase users is the powerful optimiser
display mode which formats "showplan" output in a comprehensible form
alongside procedure source - an ideal tool for resolving performance problems.
Even Microsoft® Access and Exel spreadsheets can be queried
using ODBC data sources defined as "File DSNs" or indeed any dataserver
for which an ODBC datasource has been defined.
In order to use you need only
have a Java VM installed from
http://www.java.com.
If you already have one installed its version will show here:
<. . .>
will work with any JVM more recent than 1.4.2. In order to start using the
simply select the
databases you would like to browse and click the link below.

Architecture
Outwardly has the look and feel
of a web application
with all the established advantages of ease of use and development
but is something a litle
different, neither Ajax Rich Internet
nor Desktop application. In fact,
is a web application but one
that communicates with an HTTP server that runs inside your browser
and is implemted as a Java applet. It is this Java "weblet" which communicates
with database resources as would a normal web servlet container.
Using this new deployment model it is possible to serve an application
on the internet intended for use anywhere. Once the applet is loaded using
the link above,
runs entirely on your local host having no further
interaction with our servers. It then switches to the presentation network
database resources in a feature rich frammed HTML interface.
In order for an applet to run as a Web server the applet must run as a
a "Signed" applet in your browser to open a socket. If you are concerned
about this or are just have a inquisitive nature, all source of the web
server applet is included in the server "jar" file available by clicking
here.
